Default 3:55 to 4:56 swap ....I have a Problem

Hello....I need some advice and some insight. I have a 1995 Ram shorty 4x4 with a 318 auto. I invested in a 5" rough country lift and want to put some 35"s or 38"s but knew i was gonna have to get rid of the 3:55's. I purchased some Yukon 4:56's and the Yukon Master install kits and had them installed by my mechanic. I had my father pick up the truck and drive it home for me as I am away on business. He called me and told me that the truck is hopping in the rear when decelerating as well at a constant speed, but stops and seems to work fine during acceleration. I have called and made an appointment to return the truck for repair...but over the phone he doesn't understand why it would be doing that. He is a very fair guy and has done other work on my truck and owns a 98 ram and changed his own 3:55's to 4:10's. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

that is odd.... I have the 4.56 gears and 35's myself and that hoping is not normal....a lot can be wrong though...maybe the teeth are fighting each other somehow and when you gas it the additional power compensates for the resistence and smoothes things out....
I have to get my rear end fixed likely because it wasnt done right....got an estimate today 5 1/2 hours labor just to replace pinion bearings and shims....I get a gear whine on deceleration. its a pretty easy thing to do wrong so I've been told.

Well I made the assumption that he knew what he was doing as he replaced his in his truck without problems. He is the owner of the garage and does mostly off road trucks....he put a full custom dual exhaust on my truck for pennies on the dollar $300 front to back with dual magnaflows. When I told him what it was doing ..he seemed confused and asked if the tire pressure , lugs , and U joints were all good ......I told him it worked fine before the gear change so it is something in the rear end that is out of adjustment. He is going to take a look at in when I get home and i'm sure he will fix me up fine.....just frustrating as I am not home to deal with it and I have $1200 invested in gears and bearings and labor....and now i risk destroying it driving it back.......I should problably tow it. I was excited to get home to break it in...not break it.....as my 3:55's were very sluggish.

even experts make mistakes....I should have said its a very hard thing to do right a lot can go wrong....and its possible something was defective....
I pulled my cover off and found chunks of shims and what I think was a cruch sleeve stuck to the magnet...I've been driving like this for months not knowing...not anymore though...going in soon

Did you have some kind of spool or auto locker put in. That could cause that if it is continualy trying to lock up and unlock in the rear.
