lockers engage as soon as u put ur foot on the gas so u have 100% torque at both wheels and when u let off the gas it disengages so u can turn and what not. i believe thats how they work. someone will correct me if im wrong
I hooked a guy up with a site for front and rear gear with 2 install kits for 570 and for an extra 60 you can get rear yukon.
i saw that....but I already have 4.56 gears....its just my rear axle pinion bearing went so I get a whine when I take my foot off the gas...and i found pieces of a shim in the housing...my gears still look good though...
I just discovered I have the lsd too.

I thought you could get lockers that work manually. Cable lockers like ox come with a lever you pull when you want it to lock out.

Yup, this is it in a nutshell. Torque transfer through the locker locks it up, and a lack of torque unlocks it, but there is a little bit of leeway for making a turn from a stop... as long as you go easy on the gas you can keep it from locking up, otherwise making a turn from a stop would be a heck of a lot harder. From what I've heard, it takes some getting used to driving on pavement, but if you use it like you should, it won't cause any excess wear on the tires or drivetrain.

Well there are different kinds. The description he gave is an automatic locker. There are selectable lockers that use cables like you mentioned, or air, or electronics. The selectable ones work like an open diff until you manually lock it.

Odds are that is where I'm going to get my gears from due to price.
