I agree with dodge1500... go with the 99-02 version!
Thats what I just ordered for my 99!
I too thought about "marker" lights on my toolbox (just 3 in the middle)
I like your thinking though on the added lights w/ brakes and directionals... got some hefty wiriing ahead of ya!!

i was thinking about more powerful lights when i said to use a relay, oops.
you will want to use a relay for reverse lights if you want them to come on when you put the truck in reverse. if not then you can do like i did and put them on a toggle and have the power run straight through the switch.
don't forget that lowes carries truck tool boxes.

i don't think clearance lights would draw too much power from the turn signal and brake light wires. especially not if they are led lights.
after you install them just feel the wires, if they stay cold then thats good. if they start to get warm then they are drawing too much power. you'll know for sure if they draw too much if you blow a fuse.

ya im getting the recon ones (flater ones) now. and yes it will be alot of wiring but i like messing with wireing so it shouldnt be too bad
so dou think i should still run new wires and not tap into the existing wires? and im goin to run my reverse lights off a toggle so i wont need a relay. and my parents have already bought my toolbox just got to wait till christmas to get it

Wrong. You will need a relay for your reverse lights. A relay not only acts as a switch, it uses a low amperage source to turn on a high amperage load. Even if you still use a switch, a relay is still necessary so you won't overload the reverse light circuit.

plus you can flip on the lights when the truck is in park so you will have light for hooking up a trailer or whatever else you would need to do behind the truck in the dark.
and you can't overload the reverse light circuit if the auxiliary reverse lights are connected directly to a toggle and not the oem reverse light circuit.
IMHO the best deal on cab lights is the Navigator brand lights that Advanced Auto carries, Auto Zone and pretty much any other parts store like that should have them, easier to install than the recons, and super bright (they cast orange light on my hood lol) and i simply wired them into the factory harness.
as far as lights on the toolbox goes, the guy i bought the truck from had a toolbox in the back, that was lit up, but only 5 across the back (same style as the top of most semi trailers) it looked damn good, but he took the tool box when i bought the truck
