Default Who went from 4.10s to 4.56 gears

I have a 4 in. lift with a light rack on top and 36in. mud tire. I am getting 7mpg. Is it worth going to 4.56 gears? Its a DD that tows everyso often.

probably want to check your plenum gasket on the bottom of your intake manifold.

If that is blown out you will get horrible gas mileage. trust me my average right now is 6.7 mpg. but i just ordered a new intake manifold

Easy way to know it if it smokes really bad. and take of air filter housing and shine a flashlight down the Throttle body. if you see oil then its blown. you can order them for 90 bucks

well gears probably are not the issue. with 4.10 and 36s you should be running fine. the 4.10 gears are great with 35s and 36s and you really shouldnt need 4.56s.

im runnin 4.10s with my 35s and i can say that its a dog. it takes alot of throttle to get moving. im considering skipping the 4.56 and going with a set of 4.88s.

looks can be deceiving. Mine always looked good, then i actually removed the throttle body instead of looking through the TB down in. Thats when i found the oil, and found my plenum was shot.

im running 4.10's its straight piped, 5.9 4x4 and im getting 14mpg city.(since i change plenum with hughes kit. was getting 9-10 before) its got 193K too
