I have no idea how they work but I'd be scared it destroys something on my truck! can those flames trace back into the engine?

these are a bad idea if you are shutting the engine down for gas cause when you do that, the gas washes the oil off the cylinder walls and into your oil breaking it down.......i saw a write up before that a guy used nos fittings and had a separate fuel line running to it

I've seen this done with just a spark plug and a switch, the guy also had a separate fuel line going to a small propane tank he had mounted in the bed. Takes some work but it can be done on the cheap.

yes the base of the system uses a propane tank. and a spark or ignitor in the tail pipe some how.. they force it threw then ignite it nothing goes thru the motoe itself..

50 years ago we used a model T Ford coil to ignite them. One dollar at a junk yard.
The carburated engines usually were rich enough when you let off the accelerator at a higher RPM to make the fire show.

Like others have mentioned it can be done. There was a guy on stangnet that did it to his Mustang. Some how his setup would basically turn off the coil so there was no spark and send all the fuel out the exhaust. It looked cool but not really a good idea. I talked to him about it a couple times wanting to do it to mine. He told me that his setup was bad for the motor. I assume its because of the washing the oil off the cylinders like has been said. I also think that it is possible for it to back feed if your not careful.

To do it right its gonna cost a good bit. My fear is setting my car or truck on fire so I gave up that idea

I've seen it done with an auxillary tank of pressurized gas tapped into the exhaust and a remote switch to open it like they use on the NOS bottles. Looks cool on classic cars but i wouldn't want to light a field on fire while i'm deer hunting lol.
