Would I or even could I see evidence of this while I had the diff cover while changing the oil? There is no metal shavings or particles in the botttom of the diff housing.

look at the teeth on the gears and if they are wearing on one side more than the other or they are wore on the outside or inside then the backlash and adjustment are off

Is that pretty easy to spot or do you kinda have to have a trained eye? And is this on the ring gear primarily or on the side gear and pinions or all of the above? And if the backlash is out, is that something that can be adjusted or do you have to have the whole rear end rebuilt?

i think u would be able to notice the wear if it was wearing unevenly. what i meant by outside or inside is if the ring gear is runnin to deap into the pinion gear or if it is runnin out to far like on the tip of the gears. tried to make at a little more clear. but yes it can be adjusted

Are there shops that specialize in differential problems and solutions or do you just start beating the bushes for a shop with a good rep. I had one but they sold out to someone else. Still looking.

Ok, Red. Thanks for the help. I'll try and follow up on the fix.

Gears are something I would pay to have done. Better to have it done correctly the first time then to mess it up, and have to have it all re-done again.
