Default Airbag light

Does anyone know how to reset the airbag light...or if you even can? It hasn't bothered me until recently, now all i can see is that stupid red light and it's irritating. Someone told me I could get a scanning tool and scan it for codes so I plugged in my tuner and it didn't find anything so I'm not sure what else to do here other than take it to the stealership and I'd like to avoid that at all costs.

You should be able to pull code... unless your tuner doesnt read the airbag module.. The code is there!
the air bag will not work while light is on.. so if reseting computer does not clear it..there is something wrong.. the scanner at autozone should be able to pull it..and the scan is free

The key trick should also work if you would like to read your own codes without going to Advanced or whatever.

Alright thanks guys, I'll try the key trick and if that doesn't work I'll take it to advance. I didn't know that the airbag didn't work when it's not on thank you for pointing that out.

Ah thats not so true. I was told buy the owner of the body shop I go to about this. He warned me not to hook the battery back up while my airbag was disconnected. he said it is possible to remove the code sometimes but a lot of times you can't and you have to buy a new module.

From what I was told by my buddy that works at a dealership it the module has to replaced....once you see that light it means it was tripped or has failed.....srs module cannot be reset..... My light is on too has been since I bought it and whole front clip is from another truck so I assume the original airbab went off and either mines missing or they put a junkyard steering wheel/colum on....I hope he was wrong but he seemed pretty confident about it...And if i'm not mistaken I thought I read the same thing in the service manual I downloaded from here.

try unhooking the battery for 10 minutes, then hook it back up, see if it resets it.

take off the the covers on the steering wheel. when i had my electrical i had two melted wires going up the steering column, but my electrical problem was a ground in the rear. i have cut out these wires, and everything still works.

So maybe theres a melted wire, i know they had a recall on ignition wiring overheating and melting.
