Default new shocks with a 3 inch suspension lift

My buddy is building his lift kit. He's got some questions that I wasn't even sure about.

First, he's debating between a 3 inch spacer and 4 inch spacer. he will either get a 1 inch block for back or a 2 inch if he gets the 4 inch spacer. he was wondering if he will need new shocks with the 4 inch. i said probly not but i didn't know. i know you don't have to do any major mods for a 3 inch spacer and 1 inch block but what about the other?

If you want to do 3" of lift you need a 2" block. I would put an add a leaf in there rather than a taller block. Coil spacers look really cheap and cheese I don't like them one bit. The tall you go the more parts you need to replace.

Lift is working great. the front sits about an inch higher right now. It should settle down though. The back isnt high enough though so i think im going to get a 1 or 2 inch block for it.

yeah i typed the block sizes wrong. add 1 inch to both of those....

think about this though... 3 inch suspension lift for 100 bucks? you payed 500... I payed 900 for mine ... Spacer is 80 bucks via ebay and we can get blocks for 7 bucks each and u bolts for 7 bucks each at our parts store... man its dumb to blow 500 especially if he doesn't have to... and hes not looking for the benefits of a lift, only the height to fit some big ole tires we got a steal on... were not getting a body due to the horrible ride quality... body lift is a last resort if the tires won't fit after the suspension lift.

and spacers don't look that cheesy

I do not think 500 is bad at all. a set of the rough country 8000 hydro shocks are like $120, then new coils and a add a leaf? my truck rides so much better now than it did with the stock coils

ya i agree its a good kit for a good price... but 100 bucks for a 3 inch lift is hard to beat, especially since spacers don't affect ride quality and blocks are not that bad. his ride quality will be good.

but back to point. i know you need to shocks with like a 4 inch lift no? no shocks needed for 3 right?

WEll when you don't know the correct bolt size and so its easyer to buy a kit. Plus this is my first lift.
