Question about AC condenser
Hi all, I have a '99 1500 4x4 with the 5.9. 128xxx miles on her. A week before I bought the truck the previous owner had gotten the AC condenser replaced by a dealer. Now, 17xxx miles later, I'm hearing some strange noises coming from the condenser.
It cycles on about every 7 seconds. I know this because every time it turns on there is a very loud click, followed by 3-4 seconds of a "grinding" noise. It's hard to describe the noise, it almost sounds like a loose pulley wobbling around. The wobbling noise increases with engine speed.
From outside the truck, the initial "click" is very noticeable. I can hear it 20 yards away, even above the exhaust and the noise of the fan. Inside the truck the wobbling noise is very loud and annoying. It drives me nuts sitting at a red light listening to that thing make noise. Any clue as to what could be going on? The AC works fine, it just makes annoying sounds.
