Default 01' Ram amber fire color

Greetings all, My name is Bobby and I live in Indianapolis, IN. I have been an owner of 2 Rams both 2nd generations. The first Ram I owned was in 2000. The truck was a 98' extended cab SLT 4x4 with just about all options available at the time. I only had it for about a year, because I was 18 and my monthly insurance was $270.00 a month. Anyways, when I turned 24 I decided to get another one but didnt want to have a big loan payment either. I decided to look at another 2nd generation again, calling on an insurance quote before I went any further...found out that being married and almost 25 was only $86 a month for full coverage. Long story short I bought a 2001 1500 Dodge from a guy in Ohio which was the original owner. I bought the truck in 2006 and it never had a hitch on it....that changed when it was in my possesion but is this normal for a 4x4? The other thing is that the color of the vehicle is Amber Fire, and havent seen too many of these driving around either. The original owner told me that they only made these for a place in Phoenix AZ (which is where he is originally from) for DNR purposes and that they made to many so they sold them to the public.... Does anyone have any input about this? Anyways I have attached a photo of the truck so you can see exactly what color it is.

Thanks and glad to join this forum

Bobby

Welcome.

I want to lean toward the hitch can with the towing package, but I'm not sure.

I LOVE AMBER FIRE RAMS!!!!

I think it was the best color the 2nd gens came in, besides Deep Amethyst (cough, cough...)

Amber Fire was just a color that Dodge introduced for the last year of the 2nd gens, 2001. And since your Ram is Amber Fire Pearlcoat, it was built between January 1, 2000 and July 1, 2001.

I really doubt the PO's story, as I also doubt that a DNR would buy a fully loaded $30000 pickup. But I cannot prove him right or wrong because there is no info on that. But it seems to point that he is wrong.

Yeah. My truck did not come from the factory with the Trailer Tow Package. It was just what the Original Owner checked and didnt check when he was ordering the truck.

Funny you say about the Deep amythyst. That was what my 98 ram was. I have gotten alot of compliments with both vehicles.

As for the "loaded" truck. That was on the 98' truck. My amber fire 01', only came with power windows, door locks, and driver seat. It has cloth interior, and a bone stock radio. I did add a sony 6 disc, but it is not factory.... Also, no fog lights....

My 99 has those same options as you 01. Its not loaded but when a state department (like DNR) will buy trucks as a fleet, they will buy the base models. Our trucks are the more common mid-range.
