and one other bumb question, what does the "k" rating mean? (ie; 5000k-8000k)

 

Kelvin Its a temperature measurement.

 

Kelvin or K means the temperature measurement of the bulb. It is based on the Kelvin rating of sunlight, which is 5400K and is pure white light. Anything lower than that will be more amber, 2500K is the standard for fog lights. Anything higher than 5400K would be bluer. 6000-8000K is the standard for ricer lights. Our eyes can see 5400K and below much better than anything above 5400K, which is why you should never put a bulb over 5400K for your headlights.

the silverstar ultra bulbs are quite bright.
my spare set of bulbs is ge nighthawks and they are quite bright.
my current bulbs are hella and they are also quite bright.

i believe the cheapo bulbs are around 2000k and thats why they're sorta yellow.

if you don't get sufficient light output from you new bulbs then you can get a setup like jasonw has and get some eurolite 80/100 watt bulbs and put them on relays.

 

what about these? if what they claim is true then it should perfect, but the price seems a little cheap

The price seem cheap I think I spent like 40 for my sliverstars.

 

I can smell wires burning using those higher wattage bulbs with the factory harness
