Default Cheap "CAI" on ebay

What would be the difference between a 14x3 or this "CAI" set up? It isn't really a CAI because it isn't isolating the hot air under the hood away from the intake, so it looks to be a fancy-looking version of a 14x3.

Go with the 14x3. I was all for a CAI, but from research they don't really do anything different than a 14x3.

That thing seems to defeat the purpose of a CAI. The filter is right over the exhaust manifold lol!

I have that same one....its really nice being almost all solid aluminum besides the rubber joint and filter.....even comes with nice s threaded shaft with heavy round fingernut for the top.
But I do agree it would function better if it actually had an air box si it got cooler air (cooler air is still that much cooler than hot air before its heated more in the manifold)..depending on where you point it though and if you throw a heat shield on it it still gets colder air than the 14x3 i replaced it with.the felt/rubber piece betwwen my radiator and body is gone on that side and all the cold air that comes in the front blows right on it..I plan on extending mine but just have been too tied up in other repairs...

I have this one too. If you have headers and had the stud removed from the block youll need to attach it to the coil mount. And im fixing to make a heat shield for mine and make my hood scoops fuctional. Yay. lol.
