I was just wondering if anyone know if all NP231 transfer case parts are interchangeable. Here is the problem: Our transfer case is missing the shifter detent (spring, plunger, and bolt) so it will not stay in 4 wheel drive. I cannot find it to buy anywhere online for a Dodge Transfer Case 231 however I have seen it multiple places for the Jeep Transfer Case 231. I have contacted the dealership and they can order them in but they always seem high priced. Does anyone know if the parts are interchangeable or is there is somewhere to order it for a Dodge Ram 1500.

 

If it's a 231 case, then it is interchangeable.

not necessarily...

i beleive '94-'97 are intercahngeable and '98-'01 are interchangeable
