Tranny died, question on shop prices
I bit the bullet and gave the go ahead yesterday. The shop said they replace all the "soft" parts, rebuild the build, replace the torque converter, flush the check valve (they were aware of it, which made me happy). Now with the plenum fixed and the trans, I guess I should be good to go for a while. Thanks again.
I am also in Central Indiana and I know who I wouldn't take any truck/car/boat/airplane/motor cycle, etc, etc to.
Hope yours turns out better then mine did, and actually this one seems to be holding pretty good, but it is the 3rd one they did.

The shop I took it the truck to was Precision Transmission in Anderson Indiana. I have the truck back and I can feel a world of difference. The check engine light is on for the front O2 sensor now, so I think I am going to take this weekend to get everything changed that I was suppose to do after the plenum change and do the brakes too. Hopefully by Monday it will feel like a new truck.
If you want to save over $1000, do it yourself! The 46RE is not a hard tranny to rebuild. I have all the pics and video here..

The .PDF file is the Dodge shop manual for the 46RE. The .AVI file is a video I bought to help me with the OD section. My father and I did it in several weeks (off and on). But it could be done by a novice in a week easy.
My tranny was a) no shifting out of 1st properly, b) not shifting into OD properly and c) not staying in OD). After I torn it down, the only thing wrong with the tranny was a $50 overdrive running clutch bearing assembly in the OD unit. I went ahead and put a new TC, frictions, steels, bearings and shift kit in it and it is still going strong 15k miles later. All for $400 (the TC was over $100).
