I did a search, but was unable to actually find the process of changing one out.
Heater hasn't been working in my truck for a while. Went ahead and changed out my thermostat last night. When I pulled the housing off, I had a solid steady stream of coolant shooting up, so I went ahead and replaced it. Now I have a film shooting up on my windshield, so I know its the heater core.

My question is, how hard is it to change this out in my truck?
And can anyone tell me the easiest process of doing it?
Or am I better off giving it to a shop and having them do it for me?

Yeah, its definetly a sucky job. What makes it the worst is that it is really just a simple repair, but you cant get to it without taking the dash apart.

From my personal experience, it is doable without taking the entire dash out. All I did was remove all the upper bolts of the dash, tilt the steering collumn down to the seat, and tilt the dash back as far as it would go. It wasnt roomy by any means, but I was able to get at it. I also removed the passanger side air bag for some extra hand/arm room.

Its a pain going this route due to minimal amounts of access to it, but I think it sure beats removing the entire dash. Just my opinion though.
