Default I need some good input on a new sound system for my 1998 dodge ram quad cab

Howdy Folks.

Im looking to upgrade my stereo system in my Dodge but dont have a clue what will sound best in there. I mostly listen to rock music so i need it nice and punchy. i just bought a new Alpine cda 105 and i was hoping to find someone here who can tell me what will work well in my 1998 dodge quad cab as far as door speakers, amps, subs and sub enclosure.

Does anyone have a complete set that rips and if you do could you tell me what i need for this truck? Thanks.

there are many different brand of speakers and subs you could go with. and alot of people will have there own opinion of what they like. IMO you cant go wrong with JL Audio. you can buy a box off of ebay that will slide under your rear seat to house you subs. Rockford Fosgate is also a good brand sub. the 12" P3's will make ur head hurt lol

i have 2 6x9 Alpine speakers in the door, 2 6 1/2 Jensen 400 watt speakers in a custom box behind pass. side seat. Sony Xplode 1000W amp, and a 10 in. Kicker L5 (550 watts RMS) behind the drivers seat, and an Eclipse CD4000 headunit. 5V pre out.

IMO this is a great combo, but expensive...around 800 for everything (i already had the wires though from a previous system)

Do you think that THIS COMBO OF SPEAKERS WILL BE RIPPIN?

JL 6 X 9 front doors
JL 5.25 for rears
JL 10" X 2 SUBS
??????????????

What would be the best way to power amp these?
Do i need a 4 channel amp for the speakers and a seperate one for the subs?

with this particular combo of speakers, what wattage is good for the speakers i listed and for whatever amps i will also need.

The jL sub box for under the seat is a little pricey for me. is there a less expensive alternative? and should i get sealed or ported? I mostly listen to rock like GnR AC DC. Stuff like that.

JL is a good brand, and for rock, I think they will be okay to use.

I assume you are looking at the TR690 which is a 2-80 RMS Watt range. (Both the VR690 and TR690 have the same watt range just different tweeters)

If you plan to amp them, I would suggest this- http://www.crutchfield.com/p_136G450...00.html?tp=115

That's pretty well bleeding edge in the fact that the speaker and the amp push the same RMS- You should thump very well if properly tuned.

These are a little cheaper and have less RMS, but will still thump very much good.

The last one is my favorite considering that I use it's little brother as a driver for my woofers.

I just pumped in my type of truck on crutchfeild.com and it says my speakers are 5.25 in front and 6.5 in the rear. is this true?

No.

6X9 in the front doors and 5 1/2" in the rear.

i went on diymobile but as you say they are fanatics. no one had a 1998 dodge ram quad cab so it was hard to find exactly what would work with my truck. I figured i would get more input here. It just seems pretty complicated finding out what works best. I build houses and dont know anything about stereo systems in cars. I had a ok year and figured i would treat myself to some sound improvement in my truck. My wife got me a alpine cda 105 and before i install it i want to get everything else i need to complete the system so i dont have to take everything apart later again to add more stuff. i do want to keep it fairly simple and just replace speakers all around and add 2 subs and whatever power amps i need. i get lost with all the ohm language and everything else and i figured maybe i could just have someone tell me what will work in my truck that kicks ***. Ill buy it and have someone install it. I know there are alot of brands and opinions but im not out to have the best on the planet. If you have a system in a 1998 dodge ram quad cab and it kicks ***, thats good enough for me and i would love to hear what you have from top to bottom..
