Check Engine Light after Rain
So My truck has been driving just fine since I got it but for the last two days its been raining non stop. On Saturday night I was driving around, truck worked fine and most importantly, no Check Engine light was on. When I parked the truck that night, It had rained all night and when I went to start it the next morning, My check engine light came on and stayed. Other then the light being on, the truck works and drives perfectly. This is my first ever vehicle so any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. I plan on taking it it to shop but at this point I might have to wait til January. Is that taking a risk?
I wouldn't think that it's taking a risk but if the light is still on take it to autozone and they can check the code for free. Then you can decide from there. It may be just a smoll bit of moisture touched a sensor and tripped it.
Well I just called Autozone and the man told me they use to be able to check but apparently California passed a Law where they cant any more. Looks like its going in to the shop. LOL
my dads does the exact same thing (96 5.2 1500 4x2) after it rains it always sputters at first then comes right out of it and pops the CEL...i got it scanned for him and i came back with an 02 sensor code...some of the wiring was deteriated
If you wanna get your CEL checked for free, take it to AAmco.

Yep. My guess is a wiring issue such as the spark plug wires being worn. Happened to my brother's Volaire in the summer of 85(?). The humidity would make the car impossible to start, and if it rained all bets were off. Once he replaced the plug wires, it was like a new car.
ya i had a blazer the previous owner put electrical tape on one of the plug wires. i didnt know this untill i went out and burried the thing in the mud and power washed it the next day and started it up and my CEL came on and got a misfire code. pulled the plug and wire on that cylinder and had freakin electrical tape on it. replaced the wires and it was fine
