Default Code P0138 O2 Sensor

My check engine light has been periodically coming on and off. It now is steady on and my neighbor had a code plug that he hooked up and it kicked back Code P0138 O2 Sensor Circuit High Voltage (Bank 1 Sensor 2)....what does that mean and how significant is that? Is it something I can replace...or does it even need to be replaced? Is it the sensor on the exhaust pipe just behind the CAT?

I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 5.2L V-8 316 HP.

Any an all help would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Bryan Rachko

Bank 1 Sensor 2 is behind the cat and I think it is a 1" wrench that I used.

A large crescent wrench will do though.

Just unplug the old one, loosen it and remove it.

Thread the new one in and tighten it down and plug the pig tail in and you are done.

When you are done disconnect the battery for a moment to clear the code.

Don't forget to use some copper anti seize of the threads before you screw it in so the threads don't gall. copper is for high heat applications

I am new to this site as you guys can see. So hopefully I posted the question in the right place, if not I apologize. And I really do appreciate all your information. A project for this weekend, we'll see how it goes.

Thanks,

Bryan
