Default i got a valve question

ok, i dont know what the stock 318 valve size is... but my dad said rather then buying full heads, just put 2.02 valves in my heads... obviously something would have to be machined out, but is it possible,,, like something people do? or is my dad wrong?

now i know i cant get the same performance out of this... or can i?

well, the stock valve size is 1.92" and the 2.02's would be an improvement, but the stock heads are crap and tend to crack between the seats. I'd contact a machine shop ans see if it's even possible to bore out the current valve seats and press in hardened seats with 2.02 valve seats.

ok.. well if its a bad spot on the motor already, i wouldnt want to push it.. so can a mod change my title to "heads question" and let me ask this....

what are some good ways to get those 2.02 heads... i mean i dopnt hae the 1200 to buy a set of RT heads that i realy really want... unless i can get them for a few hunder bucks... thast would be the only way i can do it, and even then its pushin it

Look up the monster magnum heads from Clearwater Cylinder Heads on ebay. Every once in a while Bob offers some up for $375 a head with the 2.02 valves.

You can also try EngineQuest Inc directly in Las Vegas to see what their prices would be and if they even offer them with 2.02 valves.

Other places are ebay, craigslist, or the parts sections of various forums.
