theres thousands of tranny threads on the site...

the 46RE trannys are weak, mostly by 150K (if your lucky) they need to be rebuilt.

sounds like you have a TC issue IMO.

check the fluid when running in neutral. checking the fluid in park will not give an accurate reading. check the level, and see if it smells burnt

also fill out your sig with info on your truck....engine size, 2 or 4 wd, and you have the rest above

how was the level? overfill can cause shifting problems, and obviously low level can cause shifting problems, and does it have ATF+4 n it? if not thats your problem...dont use ATF+3

if the fluid hasnt been changed in a few years it has aft+3 in it....I think our trucks shipped with atf+2 or just Atf fluid as they keep improving the formula they discontinue the older stuff...ATF+3 is fine to use its just the older version of ATF+4...dextron is the stuff thats supposedly bad to use in our trannies...although thier are exceptions where people have used it and had no issues...including halfamil here...who has like 445,000 miles on his and uses dextron2...
I myself have a rough shifting tranny and at 140k on it I chalk it up to being just plain worn out....
