Default 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Wheel Bearing Replacement?

I've got a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4wd and the wheel bearings are bad. The wheels "wobble".

Can you replace just the wheel bearings or do you have to purchase the whole assembly?

If you can get a rebuild kit (gaskets, bearings etc..) then does anyone know where would be a good place to get it?

If you have to buy the assembly then do you know of a good place to get that?

I'm also looking for the manual on this truck to. If someone could point to a good place online to get one it would be much appreciated.

i heard timken bearing and hub assemblys are better, thats what i went with..they are an assembly, gotta know if its abs or non abs when you order mine were non abs, i paid close to $400 for both sides, plus i had an axle seal leaking so replaced that as well, now the pass side is leaking of course.......also replaced front axle u joints with the spicers upgrade version, forgot what# they are, i try to get the best for my truck when i have the $$$ bought all my crap at advanced auto ,except the spicer u joints i got locally at a truck shop about 60 bucks for those i think.... and also replaced the trac bar with a don thuren trac bar.. friend and i did it all in his shop over the weekend...also if you look in the FAQ links i think there is a manual you can download in there.

I got my Chrysler Factory Service Manual from Geno's Garage for $90. Or you can go to your dealer and get it from them

here's the service manual for free....

^as said, the bearings and hubs are an assy, and the timken's cost about $180.
you can get them at any local parts store, or order from rockauto.com
there's a nice DIY with pics in the tech section over at pavementsucks.com

beware, you need a 1-11/16 socket and an impact wrench to get the big axle nut off. for some people this job can become a nightmare due to frozen/rusted parts. mine turned out to be easy.

FYI - you're gonna need penetrating fluid and heat to get the hub assembly off. They like to seize on there pretty damn good

oh, and don't put the big axle nut back on with an impact, torque it to whatever specs it calls for, or you'll be doin it again
