Default will 98 2 wheel drive 5.2 fit in 01 4 wheel drive 5.2

I have a 01 ram 1500 4x4 standard cab with 170000 miles on it. It is using oil, about 1 quart every 900 to 1000 mile. May be plenum gasket or something else. I have access to a 1998 2 wheel drive extended cab ram 1500 with a 5.2. My question is will the 5.2 from the 98 fit the 01. I thought it was a no brainer and they would fit, but a friend of mine said there were some issues on some ford and chevys when switching a engine from a 2 wheel drive to a 4 wheel drive. I have no idea what the issues would be. The good thing about the 98 engine is that it has about half the miles on it and it is free. Any ideas or opinions?
