I have a 1998 ram 1500 with 5.9
trans went at 150,000....surprise!!! I put a used transmission in it about 8 months ago.
It ran fine shifted fine ....worked great.....no cruise contol though. once the engine gets up to normal temp the trans temp light comes on....stays on for about 15 miles then goes out trans had been fine for all 8 months...
by the way, my dad has a computer and I did run it on that.....said engine temp was 200 trans temp 299....I could not hold my hand on the engine oil pan....I could put my hand anywhere on the trans and it was fine. so i figured screw it....
just last week it seems like when you need some power to go up a hill ....it lugs very bad...has no power...like the kick down isnt working.... I was like 50 miles from home, I babied it home..... then a few days later it was working pretty good.... unless i really tramped on the pedal... now its back to working the same...no power lugging.....seems to shift pretty well though....any suggestions....output speed sensor???? what should the computer say...I am new with that....my dad is old and doesnt understand it....what do I look for on the computer....the last time I just had that trans temp high ...
