ive been told they are reverse thred, but when i did mine it was normal threaded....so i guess it varied...and we had to use a vise and a punch(air tool) to get mine apart....

I can' t remember if my thread was normal or a reverse one . To open my fan off I put a wrench on and hit it a few times with a hammer before I took the belt off and it opened no problem.

from the passenger side you push down on the wrench that is on the nut.

i used a strap wrench for the pulley and a pair of channel locks for the nut because my crescent wrench didn't open enough.

if it was reverse threads then there would be a chance of the fan getting loose and coming off because of the rotation direction of the fan.

on my dads water pump i used the end of a ratchet strap without the ratchet and a strip of rubber.
i wrapped the rubber around the pulley then i hooked the strap to the driver frame rail and wrapped it around the pulley going over the top and tucked the end under the strap that was on top of the pulley.
so when you put tension on the fan nut it just made the strap tighter.
