The 40 should be louder but only slightly. The 44 is deeper, louder is not always better I would go 44. I have pacesetter headers, flowmaster collector magnaflow cat, and a FM 40 and my truck sounds mean and its not loud on the highway. When I redo it im going 44, they didn't make the 44 when I put my exhaust on.
