Do a search...this has to be the most frequently asked and answered question. It also depends on your budget.

Hey, welcome to the forums. You'll find a lot of useful info around if you'll take the time to look around.

As for a short answer, always make a repair a mod. That being said, check the plenum, timing chain, heads, and probably some others that I'm too tired to think of.

Some basic performance improvements:
1. Stroker kit
2. Rockers
3. Heads
4. Intake manifold
5. Boost- If you really want to get serious.

Oh, if you have thoughts of a tuner, you can pretty well forget them now. You and I are in the same boat in the fact that our trucks have "interesting" PCMs. While they are largely labeled as OBDII, they are more realistically labeled as a hybrid OBDI. Tuner brands such as Superchips do not offer a solution for us, and more than likely wont.

yeah i though about a chip but found out i can't get one. i was thinking about getting underdrive pulleys, a accel coil pack, and a cold air intake but i'am not sure which which one will give me the best increase in power with out wasting my money on something that doesn't work. if anyone has any advice on which air intake to buy i would like to have ppls input on the subject. I did a tune up like new plugs wires cap rotor etc. probably wouldn't hurt to check my timing chain cause it has 147,000 miles on it might have some slack in it. and i did check my intake gasket all the plugs are clean and it doesnt use oil so i think mine is good. thanks for the suggestions.

correction they do make a tuner for a 97.. its the 95 below you cant.. 96 up can use a sct but hyperchips makes one for us... and sct can be used for 97s too.
