Question about code scanners

the pcm doesn't discover and report the problem until conditions allow all the tests to run and enough data is recorded.

Just to make sure I understand.... are you saying the PCM might not re-issue the code until after months or hundreds of miles of NORMAL driving?

I have an equus 3160(185$ from amazon,300 from snapperon) that I like a lot.Very portable, reads abs(but not pre 99 dodge).A code reader will clear codes, but if they are still active they wont go away.If you just want to occasionally reset a light,I would stick with the battery trick. But if I needed to do some light diagnostic work,I would get a reader.
