Default hints for better gas milage

I have a 97 Dodge Ram 1500, extended cab, 5.9 liter, cold air intake and a hypertech max energy programmer, but it only gets 8 MPG.
Can anybody help me on what I can do to get better gas mileage?

I have a 1999 Ram 1500, I was getting around 16 mpg before I installed coldair intake, throttle body spacer, and a racing chip. All of them were suppose to save me gas but in the end lowered my mpg to roughly 10 mpg, but horse power is incredible now lol.

and do absolutely nothing to your intake or power. as others call it, 'an expensive paper weight'
