318 wont start
hey gang..
mistress wont start, i put new terminals, checked all the wires, used a 825 cca battery..
heres the thing..i turn the key forward..im sitting at a pinch below 14 volts, got all my lights everything works fine..just wont start..
hit the key and all i hear is the starter clicking..tried jumping it..and it turned over sluggishly and was about 1/4 of a turn short of firing then it started to slow down..when hitting the key the volt gauge jumps down to about 10 i wanna say..this is really frustrating. and now when trying to jump it it just clicks.i hate electrical gremlins .
i need to get it started cause its been like this for 2.5 months..and hasnt ran since the last battery died..plenum is good, timing chain is new and perfect, alternator was replaced in 97' i think its possibly the wire running to the start as thats the only one i havent checked cause cant get to it
any ideas?

First off, I know that you have some audio equipment laying in that truck. Unhook all of it. Just humor me in case the odd ball chance that there is an issue with those components arises.
It could quite possibly be that a ground has come loose. Being so, you would get a very poor circuit through the system, and lack of start.
Multimeter is your friend here.

haha thanks..
ya know i shoulda mentioned that..when i parked the truck..i pulled the head unit, sold it(really shouldnt have done that) and disconnected the hot wire and remote..the only think that could be drawing juice is the power invertor and its only a 350 watt..and its hot wired..so theres no undoing that
dont have a mutil meter and my buddy who has one is out in kansas and wont be back till spring..
Chris what you mean about this ground? would sitting cause this ground on the starter to get corroded..this is no doubt the original starter..and it grabs the fly wheel fine..its just theres two sets of wires going to this thing..and with where its parked and the fact that i dont have a jack at the moment..i felt around there today checking for any corotion on the starter, and i cant see the wires that connect to the starter..thats gotta be the problem..sadly theres a Y pipe in my way lol..
any ideas on cleaning that up? maybe just soak the whole top of the starter in brake fluid/parts cleaner etc?
