Default T-case from 3500 work in a 2500?

Hello all!

Mechanic told me my T-case is shot in my 2001 2500 ( I bought it this way....cheap)

Anyway he found and I bought a good T-case with a pto on it so I am assuming it is from a 3500.

I was just wondering if anybody here knows if this will be a direct bolt in?

I have been looking for a reman or even just used for a while but not coming up with much.

Found one locally (in a diesel) but he is firm on $500 and I have to pull.

So I went ahead and went with the one my mechanic found (for $450 and this is from a yard he deals with) but it is out of a 3500.

Hope it works.

Sammy

yours in your 2500 should be a NP 241, so look on the other and see if they match if so they should bolt right up, otherwise go on a local 4x4 board and you should be able to find an NP 241 for about $250-300.... But I would think the one you bought should bolt on. My 01 2500 has a V10 so I have been trying learn as much about Rams as possible.

Our 2500's with the V-10 or the Cummins had the PTO capability as well, not just the 3500. Don't know about the "Sport" model.

Cool Thanks!

I looked around on ebay and found a couple with NO warrantee with "buy it nows" for $950 and $1000 so I guess $450 for the one Im getting is a decent deal.

My mechanic says its a very easy swap and he wont have much time at all into it so it looks like I will get it all done for around $600 (including new T-case) give or take.

I have tried to sell it but people freak right out when I tell them four wheel drive doesnt work.

I told em it looks great, runs great, drives great IS great other then 4x4 needed to be fixed and everybody said "no thanks!"

Looks like Im glad I traded for it. Po was scared what it would cost to fix so he just wanted out of it.

I tried selling for as low as $3000 "as is" but no takers. Course with my luck selling cars and trucks maybe even after its fixed I still wont be able to get rid of it lol. Oh well, keep it or sell it its gonna be worth more either way if it all works.

Thanks again,

Sammy
