Default powerprogrammer/tuner

im having trouble finding a programmer or a tuner for my truck i got a 96 5.2 and there all for the 97 or newer i didnt no if it would b fine to just get the 97 but didnt wanna chance it. anyways does anyone have a 96 or older 5.2 tuner for there truck and where did u get it so i can order one??? thanks guys

I thought that 96 was OBD II but I know the older trucks (95 and older) are OBD I and there are no plug and play tuners. You can get a Mopar performance computer or a B+G flash of your current computer.

The only tuner that does 1996 for sure is the SCT, IIRC.

The reason there are so few options is that 1996 was a OBD II hybrid. It had an OBD II port and most (if not all) PCM, but it used a lot of older OBD I sensors and had a mixed list of codes, OBD I and OBD II. The first "true" OBD II truck was the 1998 model year.

Oh, and just a tid bit for next time... please try doing a search before posting. This has been discussed many times before.
