Default header bolts 12point or 6?

i removed the manifolds today. went kind of easy. anyway i go to put in the headers useing the stage 8 locking bolts. i baught the 12point bolts thinking it'll be easier to get a bite on.. but i was wrong.

i think i may take these back and try the 6 point, does anyone know of anyone with allen head locking bolt?

the stage 8's are a pain. Getting it started wasn't the issue, but rather getting the bolts tight... and then either over tightening them or under tightening them to get the teardrop to work, or modifying one of the outer ones to even fit. While they do infact do their job, I too would consider the allen head locking bolt if I had to start over again. Haha oh yeah and the E -clips = pita too. Btw I used 6 pt

how are you gonna get in the center on the ones that you can't get too using the stage 8's. Seems like it will be just as much of a pain in the ***

Stick with the 8's the hex's are going to end up royally screwing you after a couple of years if you ever want to take them back out.

If he's trying to choose allen head bolt's over the standard bolt's it's going to end up screwing him. Theres no way you're going to get as much torque on a allen head as you would a standard socket. Considering how rough the bolt's become over time.

i think inside hex (allen heads) are more prone to stripping out than larger outside hex heads. especially after a few years of rust.

the only good thing i could see about the allen heads is you have a nice place to start drilling them out when they strip.
