Now that it's actually getting cold it seems all the problems are coming out. The most recent is an irritating squeek that I traced to somewhere above the gas tank under the cab. It doesn't do it all the time but it sounds like metal rubbing together. My question is what is up there that could cause this sound?

 

could be one of your body mount bushings has worn out

 

That's what I thought at first but it sounds like it's coming from the gas tank.

 

One of the straps is probably coming loose.

Does it only do it in overdrive, from 35-45 MPH?

 

No it does it all the time. I can hold the brake and push the gas to make the chassis twist a little and you can hear it. Now it hasn't done it in two days.

 

Does it do it only when you hit bumps? Could be the leaf spring spacers have rotted away, it happened on my truck.
