Smashed up the Dodge, need help with different options
if you get 6000 for that truck, and the canadian government lets you - you should find a nice replacement truck down here in the southern US where there's no salt and rust. come down here and buy one from a private seller so you don't have to pay sales tax, and drive it home. use http://www.crazedlist.org to search multiple cities.
I really doubt they will give you 6,000... more like 3,000
I'd get it fixed.. unless they offer you 6k
$4800 sounds a little high unless the is alot of hood and body damage.. they will add in the cost of paint.. which is $$$$$$

OK maybe I won't get 6000 but it'll be well over 5000. If they are willing to spend 4800 to fix the truck, that tells me that they think it's worth more that that. They can't offer me less that what they were willing to spend to get it fixed, that doesn't make any sense, they showed me their cards and are over a barrel
i needed all that minus the two fenders ($400is) and hood ($400ish)
I had to replace all this OUT OF POCKET... bumper, grille, rad, a/c condensor, lower core support, upper core support, water pump, fan shroud, sur belt, fan, fan clutch, power steering cooler, misc cooling lines, A/C recharge, right side light, and should have replaced the hood and fender.. but didn't to save money
furthermore.. they had it on the frame machine for 5 hours to straighten out the front end...
after all that I bought a $450 brush guard.. and I spent a little less than $3,000 USD
good luck with the rebuild.. I had fun with mine

I'd say take the money and run.
I paid $2700 for mine at the insurance auction. 01 with 85000 miles. there is no way I would pay $1000 for a truck with that many miles and a bunch damage. At auction with good tires it probably bring around $500 here.

depends on how much you have into it....i have ALOT into my ram, if something like that happened, i dont care what they would offer me id keep my truck, for i know whats been done, and i know what it needs.....just my .02 cents
so now can you buy a US truck for 3000 and register it in Canada?
