Default 1996 Dodge 2500 Diesel

Need some advice!

I own a 1996 Dodge 2500 Diesel 5.9L Auto. It has no lift but 35 inch Toyo's on it. I'm looking to purchase a 28ft pull trailer for camping.

I was thinking of adding airbags to my truck for pulling this trailer. Is it worth while? Really worried about my Auto Trans as well. Will the tranny be ok for pulling this trailer?

Is there anything else I need to modify my truck to make sure everything is good?

Thanks,

Bill

I used to have the same truck, get the firestone airbag kit with the interior guage kit and leveling switches. Shyt that truck will pull that trailer like it's no tomorrow i wouldn't worry about the tranny. i pulled a 35' gooseneck around with a john deer tractor and implements with mine.

dnt worry that trucks made for towing. heavy duty trans cooler would help. air bags are a good choice to but, as is, it could tow anything.. upgrades DO make it better and help the truck last longer though.

is it excab or lwb? airbags should help keep your front end planted a little better

Thanks for all the replies. Any idea what a heavy duty trans cooler goes for and how difficult is the installation? For the most part the trailer is only going to be towed a few weeks of the year so its not like its an everyday traveller. I will look into the airbags and trans cooler. I'm still in the midst of beefing up the front end, I've added a new 4" dropdown pitman arm and small tie rod. Just working on the long tie rod and replacing the knuckles.

Thanks again, any other suggestions would be great.

Bill

if your not going to be towing it very often, i wouldn't spend the coin on bags, unless your using the truck for hauling other heavy items (and seeing as how you have the legendary 12 valve, i'd sure hope so...)
