Default Transmission model question

I have a 1994 dodge ram 1500 that needs a new transmission. It has the 5.9l in it. I was wondering if I should look for the 1994-1997 46RH model or the 1998-2001 46RE model if that would even be compatible. I think I saw somewhere that the 46RHs were better but I dont know. Thanks .

The transmissions themselves are the same, the only difference is one is shifted hydraulically, the other is shifted electronically by the PCM. You won't be able to use an RE in place of your RH.
