Default Accumulator piston upgrades

Well since I've got my trans torn apart, I fugured I would do some preventative maitnenace/performance work. I plan adjusting the bands and I already have a Sonnax kit installed. Wondering if anyone has ever upgraded the accumulator piston and if it is benificial for a stock truck.

Beneficial in that it`s more durable (less likely to crack), otherwise no difference. But the old 727 accumulator pistons were aluminum and drop right in. Did that Sonnax kit have the updated low/reverse servo? The stock one is prone to cocking in the bore and breaking...

a transmission tech on another forum mentioned using a 3/4" spade bit to open up the hole that the governor pressure solenoid pokes through out a little.
if you look at the screen on the solenoid you will see that 3/4 of the screen is against aluminum and that guy said that drilling that part to give a 1/8" opening all the way around the screen will make it last longer.
if you do this, make sure that the hole you drill won't be open to any fluid passages on the mating surface on the valve body where the housing that the solenoid is in bolts to.
