most of us around here just go by the 01 manual in that merry christmas thread...

and if you stick around here, you won't need the manual for your plans anyways! VERY helpful, informative bunch here

Now How about it ANYONE got a copy of the 2000 factory service manual for the Dodge Ram?

And exactly how is a 2000 any different then a 2001? I would love to know.

I actually downloaded that one a while back!

Every year manufacturers make changes to every vehicle... for instance if I walk into an autozone and ask for a rear caliper for a 2001 dodge ram 1500 2wd they will set a Fenco reman piece in front of me part number C670 for $42.00 core charge $86.99 plus tax... however if I ask for a rear caliper on a 2000 dodge ram 1500 2wd all they'll find is wheel cylinders because 2000 models didnt have available 4 wheel disc brakes... I'd Like to have the 2000 service manual so i can i dentify some of the other upgrades that were made that i might want to incorporate in my project

Maybe I'm a little whacky but my background as an ASE certified Parts Technician tells me if I want to find the right answer the first time I need the right manual which in my case would be for the 2000 year model Rams... Please understand I mean you no offense in what I've said and I appreciate your effort to help But the 2 model years are, as you originally said, "they're V-irtually the same."

I'm the Kind of guy that wants to look at every manual I can get my hands on before I go scrounging around the junkyard and parts houses looking for something that might fit especially when I've waited this long to do any modifications to the truck in the first place... to me its just a matter of piece of mind knowing I've done all my homework before beginning a project thats already gonna be pricey. Which call me wierd but my years of being a parts guy wired me this way! I had too many customers that started swapping things without doing any research and wound up paying many times what they would have if they'd just picked up some quality books... course I also remember A friend that came to look for an exhaust manifold setup that would suit his needs numerous times before he ever purchased anything over a year of him coming in looking at our exhaust catalog and I changed jobs before i ever saw him buy any exhaust parts!

In answer to the person that asked what I plan to do to the truck???

Can you say engine/trans. conversion, 2wd to 4wd conversion, lift kit...

By Engine I mean a Big Block from good old Ma' Mopar probably a 383 on roids! Schumacher Creative Services makes a kit to stuff a B/RB block into a 96 Dakota and I know if a big block can fit inside a Dakota It will have no problems in a Ram... There's several Kits available as well for EFI on a B/RB

The 42re that backs the puny V-6 thats in the truck now has been slipping for a few years now... probably the lockup clucth in the Torque Converter I've read they had a tendency to go out! I wasn't allowed to even get a license to drive without knowing how to drive a stick shift! My Dads Rule for the 6 of us Kids! In recent years I was a trucker for schnieder national and I miss popping a clutch... some people whine about having to shift in traffic... but I don't think too many of them were dealing with west palm beach, ft. lauderdale, miami rush hour traffic in a 10 speed eaton fuller equipped freightshaker hauling a 53 ft. trailer either... My Point Shifting gears in a pickup... NO SWEAT!!! Keisler makes the T56 Magnum which is a 6 speed manual rated for 700HP, which is hotter than what I'm planning for the engine anyways, 6th gear has a .5:1 ratio according to my calculations with the 3.91 axle ratio and the tires I have, which are really the only thing I've ever changed from stock, 265/75 R16 they were cheaper than the original size tires so you know save a buck where you can right lol ... anyways with that tranny/axle ratio/tire combo I'll be able to do 70mph on the interstate at around 1500rpm's instead of the current 2000 plus... may be wrong in my thinking as to wether such a low rpm range will give better fuel economy or if it needs to be a little higher in order to be in the engines proverbial sweet spot... I'm open to thoughts on!

If I do decide to turn the truck into a 4wd then Im pretty certain I wanna go with a set of Dana 60's! Again to keep the mpg up and the rpm down I'll probably install some 3.73 gears... for purposes of needing lower gears I'm thinking a klune-v underdrive should take care of things! Undecided about which Transfer Case! I'm sure I'd have to get rid of the T56 trans. though unless they decide to make a 4wd tail housing for it which by the time I get around to deciding wether or not i want the truck to be 4wd or not they may indee make the right setup...

Dang Dude Sounds Like you found this site a little too late or else you wanted to have the paper copy lol you coulda gotten the manual for your truck for free here!

I hate going anywhere else for parts besides Either the NAPA where I used to work or the Bumper to Bumper acrossed the street! I worked for an Independent Jobber And that man will start shooting flames from his eyeballs if you let a customer walk away just because the computer didnt give you a part number.... He was less upset if you did it when the book rack showed nothing either... our job wasn't done in his mind unless we had exhausted both the computer resources, paper catalogs, and the parts manufacturer tech lines in search of the right part! For that reason alone it drives me insane going anywhere else cause these other chains dont bother to teach their employees to use a book rack whatsoever... I was the store manager at that NAPA within my first 6 months! My ASVAB (the Military test you take in high school) said I was extrememly good at reading charts and table... which is basically all a parts book is... which is the one quality that I'd say lead to me bing in charge of Old Bill that was darn good at finding the impossible part and had been in the parts business longer than the owner of the store and the woman that worked there that was almost as good as Old Bill!

Im Hoping though that maybe some one on here will see this thread and actually have a copy of the manual... because the parts guys at the dodge dealerships around hear are the if its not in the computer it doesnt exist variety... which is almost ok since the dealership computer databases are super super accurate! I used to work at chrysler back in early 2002 so I even have experience in that parts catalogging system!

I think your best bet is going to be to buy one; everyone uses the 01.
