Default 16x10 rims fit what tire size?

I found a set of procomp 16x10 rims with 4" backspacing for my truck for a good price but whats the smallest size tire I can run with these. Would 285's be to skinny for these or would I have to run a 305 or 12.5" wide tire

I have 10" x 16" wheels and run 265-70 series tires.
Personally I like a tire tread no wider then the rim, preferably slightly narrower.
For off road use it would be different I think.
