I bought a 98 1500 from a guy last week. Apparently he tried to drop it into 4 low while it was in park, or drive. Im not really sure i dont remember what he said. but anyway, the lever stripped on the shaft it sits on. i pulled the boot off and the lever can now just move back and forth freely, and even twist a little. how can i get in there to pull everything out and fix it?

Check the FAQ section for the link to the online service manual. Covers 2001 model year, but things like your transfer case are the same. Welcome to DF.
