Thumbs up

Well,
When I was shopping around, I was going to go with something like a Road Armor or Buckstop, but balked at what I thought was their ridiculous price. I found a local guy on Craigslist that was willing to weld me one custom to my specs (similar to an RA), however he was talking about 4-500 lbs on the front of my 1500. I'd never heard of ORT before when I found a review online (Outside that review there's not a lot of info online). I found out they're a local company in Portland. I visited their shop, and the guy really does good work. My bumper weighs less than 200 lbs, which didn't drop the front a whole lot, and while I had a little reservation on the pipe style versus a solid bumper, I'm glad I got what I did. Despite the pipe structure, this is one solid bumper. The winch box is heavy steel plate and really reinforces the structure. While I'm not eager to test it, I think that in an impact this bumper would do better than a solid one, and it'd be easier to fix. Price from ORT was $1200.00 picked up at the shop (raw metal, unfinished). Powdercoating was 375.00. If you ask, I think the shop will handle taking it to be powder-coated for you (they did for me), but you have to pay the coating shop yourself. ORT (actually Oregon Motorsports) doesn't have a finishing facility in their shop.

I ended up paying to have my bumper installed at a 4x4 shop because I didn't have the time (It was something like $40 bucks), however this is really easy to install. The bumper is designed specifically for the Ram, so there's no special brackets or anything. The bumper frame bolts directly to the truck frame. If you get the bumper for other brand trucks there's some kind of adapter bracket.

My only regret is that I didn't have the extra $500.00 to get a matching rear bumper. You get a $200.00 break if you order them together.

(I'm not affiliated with ORT, just a happy customer)

[Note: the gap between bumper and grill is because I have a body lift. I was going to ask them to lengthen the attachment points to make up the difference but forgot. An adapter wouldn't be hard to make, but I've gotten used to the look and it really doesn't bother me.]

[quote=The first time I went out in the snow I smashed my mom's bumper up and the 2nd time I did mine. I have learned to stay home if I can.[/quote]

I think I'd learn how to drive in snow instead...

Do not buy from road armor. There is threads about HOW BAD they are on PS.
ive seen some of the threads over there buy as far as you know, is there problems WITH THE BUMPERS? or is it just what im seeing about taking MONTHS to get the bumpers if you get em at all? the offroad shop down the road told me they cover the cost to get it shipped to them and i wont have to pay a dime until i can physically walk out the door with it.... so i risk nothing as far as losing money, but if its reliability issues in the bumper itself then ill officially eliminate RA

I had been going back and forth between Ranch hand and Buck stop.

I would say buck stop. They like look like they can take a beating can come back for more.
