Question 1997 3500 v10

I am considering the purchase of a 1997 Dodge 3500 V10 automatic two wheel drive that has 103,000 miles (one-owner truck). I am totally unfamiliar with this engine other than I knew it was an option back then. Are there any things I should have thoroughly checked or weak points with this engine? Is there any expensive service maintenance that should have been performed by this mileage.

I understand that the V10 was discontinued in favor of the diesel. What kind of mileage can be expected (no tow load)?

Any and all info and history on this V10 engine will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Randy

Lots of V10 info in here that can be found by doing a search. Don't expect more than 10-12mpg with this engine. You may get more, but don't expect to. Welcome to DF.
