U-Joints on the driveshaft are wearing out.

Yes, it is normal. A transmission tech explained it to us in a thread a while ago.

If you don't have your foot firmly on the brake pedal when shifting into R, you will hear some degree of thud normally. If your driveshaft U-joints are going, it will be even louder.

Ok, Thanks.....It's not incredibly loud. Just a thud, Read the article as to why this may happen from another post....Just at times can make me feel concerened.....lol. Anyone else also notice when going down the road in traffic shifting from maybe 2nd to 3rd also gives a little thud? I have no shifting problems....all smooth, just notice it when I let off the gas, nothing when I stay on the throttle......

have you checked the fluid level in your rear differential? i don't think it would be a u-joint. they are a bit more noticable.

if it was a U joint you wouldnt just feel it shifting into reverse..i agree with the above post..check the fluid on the rear diff

mine does it some times..normally when my foot isnt firmly on the brake like Miami suggested

IIRC if it was U joints..it would be doing it ever time your drive shaft got put under a load regardless of direction..
