Default 97 1500 fuel delivery question

Ok......I should search the archives but I don't have time.....Sorry

My 97 1500 with a 318 engine is dripping fuel where the fuel delivery line meets the fuel rail at the left side of the engine above and alongside the intake plenum. There is a springclip that holds the connection together. It seems to me that there must be a series (or maybe just one) O-ring there that has failed but my local mechanic seems to think that I need to buy an entire new assembly for a bunch of bucks.....

Can you guys give me some guidance on this??? Is there a kit that I can buy, or some good ol' wisdom that will get me through this? My truck is dead at this point and I need the old girl. She only has 187K on her and that's not nearly enough.

Thanks, Bruce

Can you just buy another line? Have you tried popping the connection off and trying to see an o-ring?

They are not repairable, you need to buy the line.

if this didn't work, it would ruin the rail and the line, but could you not cut the quick connect fittings off and replace with compression fittings. i've replaced some line segments before on cars and boats.

i'm not looking at the truck right now because i'm sitting in my nice comfy chair, but there has to be a flex piece there somewhere to allow the engine to rock. right?
