I sold some tires with the same tread pattern as the dogs. He loved them until the first snow fall, then came in for some winter tires. He said they where scary on snowy roads.

Like I said M/T tires for the most part suck in snow/ice. I'd say go with the A/T its the same pattern as the BFG A/T (which I have). There a kick *** tire, thery do well in mostly everything (except for deep mud/rocks). But they wear really well and make almost no noise on the road. I think most people go for the M/T tires because of the look not because they will need them IMHO.

As muddy as our roads get here and as much as I love to play in the mud I think I will want them. What if I add the kedge grip stuff?

I know my AT's suck in snow and mud... the voids are too small and they clog up and turn into a slick....

but educate me - why is a Mud Tire not a good Snow Tire ?

Mud tire would be the best type of snow tire next to chains.... My yoka's suck *** in snow because they'er meaty but the ****'s are too close togeather to dig in. they'er great on dirt and hill climbing.

I said snow/ice, its mostly ice they don't do well on. I believe its because of the bigger spaces in the tire to clear mud, which means less contact with the road and therefore less traction. Mud tires are great off-road but road manners suffer because of the design. Thats why I like a good A/T tire, best of both world so to speak.

mud tires are not good on snowy road conditions or ice because of the blocky tread pattern, Though it does its job in the mud it is just to hard to flex and grip the road in poor driving conditions. If u look at a snow tire u will notice a lot of lines across a tread block, this is called siping, it is there to keep the tread flexible in the cold conditions so the tire will grip the road. I suggest a comprimise between the two. I have the General Grabber AT2's. So far I love the tire and my store sells alot of them. The ten ply rating for a six ply price is also a good selling point. I suggest really considering where u will be driving the truck the most, in the mud, deep snow, or everyday driving and go with a tire for that application that will also hold its own in the other
