Default my 2-stroke Dodge Ram

Well I started the tear down on my Ram. Got the intake off and apart, tonight i will clean it all up, make my aluminum plate, and get it ready to reinstall. tomorrow I will be doing the timing chain and water pump R&R. Just wanted to share some pics.
I consumed 2 quarts of oil in the last 1500 miles.
I cant wait to see how this performs once everything is how it should be. I also got an SCT tuner ready to be installed.

well i just figured I was burning soo much oil, it was basically a 2 stroke.
But a question for those who have done it. Do you have to drop the pan to do the timing chain?

i dont think you do, should be able to just loosen the front bolts to give some clearance.

I get ya, I myself was expecting a Lawn Boy with a Ram body on it!

You just have to remove the two front bolts.
Here is a DIY on water pump an timing chain replacement:
http://www.pavementsucks.com/tech-article-37.html

I'll be doing the same things you are doing (plenum gasket, timing chain, etc..) in about a month or so.

Hey Thanks,
Excellent writeup, and exactly what I expected., just wasnt sure on the dropping of the oil pan. When looking up prices on the gaskets, FelPro says you also need the oil pan gasket.

might as well do the oil pan while you are in there, but the oil pan can be a REAL PITA to get back on. at least on a 4x4. i went ahead and did mine when i did my t-chain and water pump. im thinking ill have to do my plenum soon...
