Question Infinity Kappa's

Ok I might be going crazy but im almost positive I saw someone on here with Infinity Kappa's in there sig. Was going to pm them then but forgot to. Here is my question.

If your running the Infinity Kappa's are you going straight from your headunit to speakers, are you going through a factory amp, you going through an amp, if so what type and watts, and what size speakers did you go with.

Oh yea do you reccomend them and would you buy them again, I dont need 10 people telling me what should I put in my truck, when I do my system I'm replacing stock Infinity's with upgraded Infinity's.

If you have the reference series I wouldnt mind hearing about them either.

I'm one of those that has Infinities....

No factory amps, but I would suggest that you wire around them. Much easier and simpler.

Infinity Kappa Perfects in the front and under the seats and Infinity Kappa in the rear...

Your not running them through any amps, and you think there worth their price tag without an amp

I had two of Infinity's subs before they got stolen, but, I can't comment on the speakers as I haven't had those. I've had other brands though.

They are more than worth the price with out an amp.

Here is the deal...

They need an RMS of like 5 watts min (I'm too tired to look it up) If you can't provide that, which most AM decks put out 3 RMS, they wont perform near as well as you would hope they would.

Kappa series really need some extra juice sing correctly, so plan for it.

If you are getting these free or really cheap, then jump all over them, but if you don't want to add an AM amp, get into reference series. They still perform great.

Don't they Jason?

I bought my References for two reasons:

One, I did not, and still do not, plan on buying an amp.
Two, I get a nice discount on car audio at my job.

Just make sure you do a good wiring job. I didn't, and now I will have to take my driver's side door panel off again to redo the connections.

On a side note: I did leave the factory amps in the system for a little extra kick. I know they aren't as good as an aftermarket unit, but they're better than nothing.

Yeah I have no problem spending the money to get them just trying to fiigure out were I'm going to mount all my stereo stuff, originally planned on getting an amp for them but didnt know if I should get the amp right away or live without the amp for awhile, and wait until I start wiring in the subs and there amp so I only have to pull the carpet up once.

I have heard the difference between the reference series and the kappa's in a store and when I could tell from twenty feet away they were different speakers I can only imagine the differnce in my truck

If properly installed, they will sing. They have to really be amped.

My 4 6X9s are running on a 4 channel 800 watt amp and my two 6 1/2 speakers are on a 2 channel 500 watt amp.

Word of advice though, don't do a little here or a little there. While it works OK on engines and other systems, it's not advisable to do with audio. More than likely, it will end up costing you more since most times you move stuff around or add this or add that, you'll need new wire, and that's not cheap. Wait and do one master install.

Another question 4 speakers and the amp to run them, plus possibly 2 twelve's shallow mount and one amp for them, will I need to run a capacitor?

I dont think I do but I just want to make sure, that will be the most I do it depends on if I can fit the twelve's or if I'm stuck with ten's
