Default 99 Ram speaker problem

I have a 99 Ram quad cab with the factory infinity 6 speaker system. The front right speaker has been cutting in and out for about a year now the RH rear speaker just went dead. I was going to change the stereo but now I have read that the front RH speaker has the amps built in and drives the rear speaker. Is this correct? Can anyone pint me in the right direction. Thanks!!!

some of our trucks have an amp under the dash mine has one. if the right side is cutting out most likely you need to run new wires to the speakers on that side they will short at where they bend with the door mine had the same prob new wires did the trisk.

I can't see a speaker housing an amp for another speaker..... or is this another of dodge's silly design ideas, like the fuel filter in the tank?

my factory amp is under the dash for the front speakers but sometimes if there is a short in one side both of these speakers will flutter in and out

Each of the front door speakers has its own amp. When you go to the dealer you will find out they are 320$ per side.Go to your nearest wally world and purchase a set of 6X9's.I used JVC.Cut wiring of off old speaker and wire new one, then zip tie amp onto speaker. You might have to tweak it a little but it works great. My stereo sounds a thousand times better than those old paper cone speakers.
