Going up to a 3.8 lever from the stock 2.5 makes a BIG difference in the 1-2 shift firmness.(and the holding strength of the band)

idk, i think i might get the TF-2 then. i like a nice firm shift as well. and yes, the rebuild is from a local shop up around by my fathers in NY. he's going to be picking it up and bringing it down to me, we'll swap it out, and he'll take my old one back to him.

are the sonnax sure cure kit and a transgo shift kit two different things? if they are, i might just go ahead and get that too...i'd rather put everything in it while i have the tranny out so it'll make it ten times easier to do IMO.

Check out this DIY gives some insight to both.

i went ahead and ordered a Street Evil tranny...i liked the way the guy was explaining everything to me, he was very cooperative and didnt mind me asking all the questions i asked. these transmissions are remanufactured, not rebuilt, and come heavily modified from a stock rebuild...plus, because he knows i won't be doing too much more to my truck for a while, he went ahead and gave me another year's warranty, so all in all, i got the tranny with a 2 yr/ 24,000 mile warranty with shipping to my house for $1925. i'll keep everyone updated on how it goes when i get it. he said it will ship in 3 days.

Definitely keep us posted. Everyone I've come across in the DF always talk about getting a Dr. Evil tranny but end up not buying one because in the build sheet for the tranny, it says "...and other secrets Dr. Evil won't divulge". They end up getting a local shop to rebuild it or buy a PACT Viper tranny. I think you'll be the first to buy one around here. So it was $2000? is he gonna charge you a core fee? What's the total price tag? Do you need to have a shop to install it in order for the warranty to be valid?

i'm not sure if the price was including a core charge, here's the link to his policies: http://www.dreviltransmissions.com/policy.html the total price tag was $1925 including shipping. and no, i can install it myself and still have the warranty.

i actually asked him about the whole build sheet deal because i wanted one as well. he told me the same thing he tells everyone else, that he cant give me one because of "secrets". however, he will give me a dyno test sheet with all the pressures and everything on it. regardless, i think that if he truely wanted to keep something THAT secret, he would do something else to prevent it. i mean, if someone REALLY wanted to find out what was different, they would completely rip one apart and reverse engineer it. regardless, i'm not too worried about it. he seemed like a decent guy over the phone.

he also told me that the street evil series of tranny's get more attention than his normal trannys. he said that he's only got one guy on the floor that builds street evils, all his other guys build normal trannys. that kinda gave me a warm fuzzy inside lol. regardless, i hope everything turns out good and i'll keep everyone updated with pics hopefully.

I would suggest the TF-2.

Also when you do it get the lock up put to max. Mine is at max and I don't even feel it engage.
I have the TFOD-HD2 in my diesel and that is what's going in the trans for my Intrepid... I also try to install one in EVERY transmission I rebuild. On a stock converter it doesn't seem to do much as far as what you feel (my tripple disc in my truck grabs HARD though), but it most definitely makes them hold better! Not to mention you get cooler flow in park.

Gerehead is right about the Low/Reverse servo too, fact is it goes all the way back to the 727/904 transmissions, so it's nothing new.
