Manual trans in a 98

My girlfriend has a 98 SST (I think thats the model) and the automatic trans is making noises in reverse and since it has been rebuilt before was there ever a 5 speed option in the newer Dodge trucks,I heard the automatic trans of that era are questionable and would like to put a manual trans in it if there is one that can handle the 360.
